We had been sent to investigate rumors regarding the long abandoned Cloakwood Mine, an old dwarven facility now long since flooded nestled deep within the oft dangerous Cloakwood Forest south of the city of Baldur’s Gate.
On the way there we found one of the greater predators of the region seeking us out, wyverns. Dangerous under any circumstances, these came at us boldly and without fear of men or our arms. Aedan was caught off guard, and proved unable to recover, his attacks and skills not up to his usualy high, and deadly, standards. Myself and Zhurn however proved to be more than a match and forced them to flee, though with my blood up I made the hasty decision to chase, and nearly paid dearly because of it. With the wyverns dealt with move kept moving, eager to reach our destination.
Upon arrival we found a cave, and therein a trap seemingly set for another, but eager to unleash itself upon us. We were beset by a half-dragon lamia, and a drow warrior. Neither seemed particularly threatening to myself in martial ability, but seldom are things as simple as blade and shield. The lamia resorted to magic, draining me with every touch. If she was familiar with my abilities, or just lucky, with every blow nopt only was my spellcasting faculties diminished, but so too were my skill at arms.
Zhurn made sure to blast our enemies from afar while I held their attention as best I could, Aedan flinging daggers rapidly, each with precise targets to do maximum damage. The cloaked figure seemingly in change made his escape, but we were victorious.
We explored the facility, and found what we could to sell, making the trip worthwhile. Healing for the damage done to me by the lamia was found at the Friendly Arm Inn, as well as buyers for our treasure. It was then with business done that it was time we returned to Baldur’s Gate and make our report of what we found.
